Annual Wilkes Co. Legislative Breakfast set for Thursday morning, Dec. 11, at 8
Reservations are still available for next Thursday's Wilkes County Legislative Breakfast - and the date is Thursday, December 11, not December 9.
The breakfast was originally scheduled for December 9 but elected representatives were unavailable on that date, so the event was moved to Thursday, December 11, organizers say. "This has caused a little confusion," said Chamber Director Ashley Barnett, "but the breakfast is Thursday morning, December 11."
The annual breakfast will allow local residents to get a briefing on local, state, and national legislative activities from their elected representatives Thursday at 8 a.m. at the Third Shiloh Mission Center at 219 McLendon Avenue.
The breakfast will be catered by Alfred's on the Square, and is sponsored by the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, Wilkes County Community Partnership, and the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG).
In addition to a report from Georgia Family Connection leaders, elected officials expected at the breakfast include U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, state Representatives Mickey Channell, and state Sen. Bill Jackson. Field representatives from the offices of U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson will also attend.
The cost will be $10 per person and reservations can be made by leaving a message at the Washington Wilkes Chamber of Commerce at 706-678-2013 or by e-mail at chamber@washingtonwilkes. org with your name, the number attending, and a telephone number.
