Funeral services for Catherine Palmer, 78, of Washington were held Saturday, November 29, 2008, at New Salem Baptist Church, Washington, with Pastor R.L. Reynolds officiating. She died November 22. Interment was in City West Cemetery, Washington.

Mrs. Palmer was the daughter of the late Lizzie Mae McClendon. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church where she served as an usher. She was the widow of Johnny Palmer.

Survivors include four children, Virginia Sanders, Lawrence Palmer, and Willie Turner Jr., all of Washington, and Johnny Palmer Jr. of Atlanta; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Elizabeth Coleman of Washington.

Nephews and great-nephews served as pallbearers.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
