Graveside services for Melvie Chafin Escoe, 99, of Crawford, were held Monday, December 1, 2008, at the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemtery with Rev. Donnie Berry officiating. She died November 28, at Quiet Oaks Nursing Home in Crawford.

Mrs. Escoe was a native of Oglethorpe County and was the daughter of the late Gabe and Clara Patton Chafin. She was the widow of Boyd Escoe. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda Methodist Church.

Survivors include two nieces, Betty Jean Echols and Sybil Hayes; four grandchildren, Danny and Buddy Escoe, Judy Nation, and Tami Arnolds; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
