Funeral services for James Mahoney, 73, of Dalton were held Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel in Dalton with Dr. Jerry Jones, Rev. Rodney Weaver, and other ministers officiating. Interment was in West Hill Cemetery, Dalton. He died Wednesday, November 26, at Wood Dale Health Care Center. He was a former resident of Washington.

Mr. Mahoney was the son of the late Jim Mahoney and Phillis Murray Mahoney. He had been employed by Toombs McLendon Funeral Home or Washington; Willis Funeral Home, Textile Coating, and E&B Carpets, of Dalton; and was a bus driver for Dalton City Schools for 20 years.

Survivors include his children, Phyllis Nichols, Bridgett Alicia Mahoney, James Mahoney Jr., and Jamaal Mahoney; five grandchildren, Jamarr Hamilton, Jamelle Hamilton, Raven Mahoney, Tiger Mahoney, and Kobe Mahoney; and four great-grandchildren. Roger Harper of Washington, a nephew, is also a survivor.

Willis Funeral Home of Dalton was in charge of arrangements.
