FBLA places third, is honored as Ga. Gold Chapter
FBLA members attending the Fall Leadership Conference in Athens included (l-r) Adam Hackney, Nicholas Reville, Kaitlyn Bagwell, Hannah McTier, Jessica Echols, Rob Lovvorn, Lindsey Guin, Blake Rogers, and Jessica Spradlin. The W-WCHS Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) placed third in the state in the "Operation October" event. The award recognized those chapters with the highest recruitment of members during the month of October. W-WCHS currently has 105 FBLA members. The chapter received the award at the FBLA Fall Leadership Conference in Athens November 21-22.
The chapter was also honored as a Georgia Gold Chapter of the Year which allowed them to participate in the Gold Chapter Expo. For the expo, the chapter displayed a triboard designed by Breckyn Hudson highlighting chapter activities and projects.
Those in attendance at the Fall Leadership Conference included Lindsey Guin, Blake Rogers, Adam Hackney, Rob Lovvorn, Nicholas Reville, Jessica Echols, Jessica Spradlin, Kaitlyn Bagwell, Hannah McTier, and advisers Amy Harkins Tanya Morgan. Each member followed a Leadership Track and attended individual leadership sessions.
Kaitlyn Bagwell shows the silent auction basket she purchased. Members also participated in a Monopoly Tournament. The team of Nicholas Reville and Blake Rogers won the tournament at their table. Jessica Spradlin, Region 15 Secretary, served as a banker during this event. Also during the conference, students could purchase tickets to bid on baskets in a silent auction raising money for FBLA scholarships. Baskets were donated by FBLA Chapters around the state and included many different items in each basket from movies to school supplies to gift certificates. Kaitlyn Bagwell bid on a basket and won a basket full of school and art supplies.
The W-WCHS chapter is currently preparing for Region 15 Leadership Conference. The conference will be held in February. There are many events the students will compete in including online written events, skills events, performance events, and team events. The skills testing will be administered Thursday, December 4, with the following students competing: David Martin, Database Applications; Hannah McTier, Computer Applications; Adam Hackney, Word Processing I; Keyonna Wynn, Word Processing II; Evan Harrison, Spreadsheet Applications; Lindsey Guin and Drew Wilson, Desktop Publishing.
