Chili and Soup hits the spot for Tour guests
     Visitors for the Christmas Tour of Homes got a warm welcome at The Woman's Club as volunteers for the Wilkes County Relay for Life served lots of chili, potato soup, Santa Fe soup, desserts, and cornbread. The $8 donation for the meal goes to benefit the 2009 Wilkes County Relay for Life set for May 1.

The Toombs family presents 'A Christmas Carol'
     Staging the scene of Mr. Fezziwig's Party from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," re-enactors at the Robert Toombs House state historic site entertain visitors Saturday during the Christmas Tour of Homes. Curator Marcia Campbell said that visitors enjoyed the life of Ebenezer Scrooge as it was played out in scenes in every room of the historic old Toombs house. "The ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future presented a haunting performance as they guided visitors through the house."
