I did not go to church Sunday as I felt bad. I was told by a friend that there were a good many absent, most of them ill. The Candle of Love on the Advent wreath, John the Baptist candle, was lighted by Jimmy Demastes. The scripture reading was from Malachi 3. Jackson Hardy played the piano as a special. The message by Dr. Dupree was "A Forgotten Beatitude," taken from Matthew 3. The deacons and their wives were honored at a dinner party at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Dupree in Thomson Monday evening. The Homebound Committee met Monday night to prepare gift bags for our homebound and elderly. ƒHappy birthday to all celebrating a birthday this week. Those I am aware of are Lucille Turpin Ingram, December 14; and Mrs. Ethel Harris, December 18. ƒThose celebrating anniversaries are Curtis and Mary Kaye Hall, December 14; Paul and Mildred Peeler, December 15; and Bob and Phyllis Marett, December 21. ƒMichael VanHart visited Roy Chesnut Sunday afternoon. ƒCalley and Connor Ryll spent Saturday with their grandmother, Lucille Ingram. Kevin and Tyler Davenport of Hendersonville, N.C., spent the weekend with Mrs. Ingram. Marvin Davenport of Hayesville, N.C., spent the weekend here and enjoyed hunting. ƒI visited my mother, Blanche Wallace, last week. ƒTom and Regina Dunnaway visited Mr. and Mrs. Troy Brown Saturday. ƒI attended the wedding of Matthew VanHart to Sable Echols Saturday in Evans. ƒLinda Standard visited Mrs. Jonnie Goodson in Evans Friday and Saturday. ƒWe are sorry to hear that Miss Grace Dunaway had a fall Saturday. We hope she will feel better real soon. Linda Standard visited Miss Grace Friday morning. ƒSarah Huff made a trip to Ft. Gordon Monday. ƒRichard and Brenda Phillips attended a Christmas program at Simpson Corner Friday. Their granddaughter, Skyla Haynes, is a student there. ƒCassie Goldman and Bryson spent Tuesday night with her mother, Deann Johnson in Hull. ƒSandra O'Pry of Athens spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Alma O'Neal at Tyrone. Pat Tuttle visits her mother often.
