Maddie Gunter will be baptized in the baptismal pool at Sardis Baptist Church at the beginning of the worship service Sunday morning, December 21. ƒChristmas play practice will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sardis. The play will be Sunday evening at 7 p.m. A party with finger foods will be held in the annex following the play. Santa Claus will come and talk to the children and give them a gift. ƒ Family night with a supper was enjoyed in the annex Sunday evening with Nina Boatwright and Kay Berry as hostesses. White cloths were on all the tables with Christmas candles adorning the tables. Rev. Jim Newsome said the blessing and prayer for the delicious meal. Mission meetings were held afterwards. The G.A.'s and Acteens put together gift bags for some in the community. ƒThe morning worship service at Sardis Baptist Church began with the lighting of the Advent candle "Joy," which was lighted by Kevin and Tiffany Lamar, DC and Lexi. Rev. Jim Newsome brought a wonderful message on "Our Need for Constant Help" from Matthew. The inspirational songs were led by Joyce Fry with Pam Hall at the piano. Many prayer requests were made and praises given. There are many people who need prayer and many things to pray for and many praises to be thankful for. ƒSympathy goes out to the family of Fred Weidner who passed away during the night Saturday. Clyde and Sandy Whittington have our deepest heartfelt sympathy. He was Sandy's brother and lived at the Armour Home in Lexington. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He would often come and spend several days with Clyde and Sandy. ƒMrs. Joe Charping joined Tommy and Fran Thaxton Sunday at the Pizza Hut in Washington for lunch. ƒSeveral from our community attended the Christmas parade in Washington Sunday afternoon. Bonnie Boatwright, Kay Berry, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter, Jo Ann Perez, Richard Burkett and Frances Fendley enjoyed it. ƒCharles and Hilda Palmer and Tommy and Fran Thaxton went to the home of Gary and Naomi Palmer in Lexington Saturday for a wonderful candlelight meal. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined Lamar and Kay Berry, Trey Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter for Sunday lunch at their home which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. ƒTommy and Fran Thaxton joined Charles and Hilda Palmer and a group from Pentecost Chapel for supper aat Ryans in Oconee County Saturday night of last week. ƒRuby Arnold, Christy Booth and Kim Berry visited Julie Berry and Tracy West and the children in Washington and went shopping last Monday to get away while the chemical spill near their homes was being cleaned up. The family of the man who died in the wreck is in our thoughts and prayers. ƒSunday of last week, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thaxton joined Dr. and Mrs. Thompson Holloman and Mr. and Mrs. Tom List of Elberton for lunch at the Red Minnow. ƒJames and Sharon Smith of Stephens treated J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright to lunch at the Pizza Hut in Washington Saturday. James is Bonnie's brother. ƒJanet Lewis of Athens, Doris Walker, and Debra Sherrer went to some of the homes on the tour in Washington Saturday and really enjoyed it. They also enjoyed eating at "Talk of the Town." ƒPreston and Joyce Fry, Jazzy and Jeremiah, had a fun Christmas weekend December 5-7. Alex and Amy Fry, Mason and Colby of Maryville, Tenn., arrived late on Friday night. Saturday morning some went shopping while others were coming in for Christmas lunch. All the children had a hay bale jumping contest, watched Christmas movies, and opened presents. Saturday night those going to Washington to the Little Theater to see "The Sanders Family Christmas" were Anna Fry of Augusta, Travis Mosely of Evans, Rene, Kyle, Kaylea and TJ Bramlett of Winder, Preston and Joyce Fry, Jazzy and Jeremiah Fry, Alex and Amy Fry, Mason and Colby. As Joyce was busy getting ready for all of her guests she was up in the attic and missed a step and fell through the dining room ceiling. Preston came to the rescue and by a miracle she (Preston, too) was not hurt. What a joyful time they had together with family. ƒBetty Berry joined Donnie and Kris Berry, Tom and Sandra Parker, Lee and Shelley Parker and Bradley to attend the Christmas play at Mallorysville Baptist Church Saturday night in which Bradley participated. ƒJo Ann Perez, Richard Burkett, Frances Fendley, Bobby and Debra Armour, Chris and Heather Armour, Rebecca and Raeleigh attended the band concert in which Rebecca played her clarinet. ƒRuby Arnold, Kim Berry and Aaliya Berry attended the middle school band concert in which Aaliya played the saxophone. ƒDoris Walker visited Joyce Chamberlain in the University Hospital in Augusta. Joyce has been in the hospital a week and is feeling much better. She is out of ICU and into a room at this writing on Sunday evening. ƒRicky Shedd and Garrett Paul and friend, Melissa, visited Johnny and Kathryn Shedd Sunday afternoon. ƒBonnie Boatwright joined James and Kathleen Canup, Margaret Peterman and Fran Thaxton in Lexington Tuesday afternoon to go to Elberton to play bingo at Wendy's with other seniors.
