Funeral services for June Hughes Walker, Ashley Drive, Washington, were held Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen F. Rayner officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Saturday, December 13, at her residence.

Mrs. Walker was born in Laurens, S.C., and was the daughter of the late Doc Hughes and the late Eva Elizabeth Brown Hughes. She was the widow of Don E. Walker. She was a homemaker and a member of Warrior Creek Baptist Church.

Pallbearers included Waylon Walker, Shawn Walker, Matthew Walker, Patrick Bowen, Justin Green, and Terry Burke.

Survivors include a son, Kim Walker, and his wife, Martha, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Karon Walker of Gainesville, Fla.; five sisters, Loree Sumerel, Mary Lou Johnson, Sara Lou Taylor, all of Laurens, S.C., Bertha Johnson of Augusta, and Alice Ruth Cotney of Aiken, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Rees Funeral Home of Lincolnton was in charge of arrangements.
