Funeral services for Emma J. Callaway Jewell, 73, of Decatur will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Gibson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Marks officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Friday, December 12, at the Odyssey House in Decatur.

Mrs. Jewell was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Tom Binns and the late Hattie Callaway. She was the widow of Eddie Jewell. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953 and moved to Decatur to attend nursing school. She lived in New York for 40 years before returning to Decatur. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sisters, Henretta "Ruth" Callaway, Thomson, Tommie Mae Williams, Hattie Mae Callaway, and Helen Stone, all of Washington.

Nephews served as pallbearers. Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
