Sunday serenade

I was told that at some churches there are those who show up only on Sunday morning to sing and serenade their friends, family, and special guests and then don't show up until the next Sunday morning if it's convenient.

Now folks like that would be absolutely insulted to be asked to take a behind the scenes job in the church, because their heart is not in truly serving God, but rather in serving themselves.

Too long, churches have been used as a stepping stone to the grand ole opry and the rock 'n' roll hall of fame. It's time to serve, not serenade. Serenading might get you to Nashville, but serving God out of a heart of love will get you to Heaven. Can you say amen?
