Troy, Bonnie Brown celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Bonnie and Troy Brown Bonnie and Troy Brown Troy and Bonnie Brown were honored at a 60th wedding anniversary celebration and lunch given by their children and grandchildren Saturday, November 22, at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Dori Brown in Thomson.

Troy Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Brown, and Bonnie Lee Dunaway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dunaway, were married at the Methodist Parsonage by Rev. Roger W. Stone on Tuesday, November 23, 1948. Their only attendants were the bride's sister, Louise Dunaway Burt of Washington, and the bridegroom's twin brother, Foy Brown, who now resides in Escondido, Calif., and was also present for the 60th celebration. Mr. Brown also remained for an extended visit with his brother and family.

A beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers in a large container filled with lemons graced the buffet. Other tables held matching fresh flowers and cloths with either red or white accents.

A delicious lunch included grilled pork loin, wild rice, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese casserole, curried fruit, yeast rolls, carrot cake, and pumpkin cheesecake catered by daughter-in-law, Dori Brown, and grandson, Scott Brown.

The afternoon was spent reminiscing, singing with guitar music played by Chris Dyson and Andrew Stringer and singing around the piano with dual accompanists, Andrew Stringer and Dori Brown.

Celebrating with the couple were children and spouses, Tim and Dori Brown and Scott Brown of Thomson; Kenneth and Debbie Brown Lindsey of Washington; Ray and Gail Brown of Brooklet; grandchildren, Mary Ellen Lindsey of Washington, Andrew and Andrea Brown Stringer of Harlem; Adam Brown of Highlands, N.C.; Scott Brown of Thomson; Brittney Brown of Milledgeville; great-grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Ethan and Alaina Stringer of Harlem; brother, Foy Brown; and guests, Laci McClaran of Athens and Chris Dyson of Washington. Grandchildren, Karin Lindsey of Barboursville, Va.; Toby and Kristie Lindsey Rose of Jupiter, Fla.; and Ashley Brown of Ridgeland, S.C., were unable to attend.
