Still waiting for luck to swing their way, the Washington-Wilkes boys varsity basketball team lost both its weekend games before bouncing back to beat Oglethorpe at home on Tuesday.

Having topped Oglethorpe in Lexington already, the Tigers hosted the Patriots on Tuesday night and came away with a relatively easy 85-75 win. All of the starting five scored in double figures, led by Deandre Stewart, who hit seven 3s en routh to a stellar 33-point game.

Otherwise for the starters, Akeimos Coleman had 16 points with 13 rebounds while Quincey Bradley also double-doubled with 14 points and 11 boards. Matson Keiser scored an even dozen and Teverrius Jones pumped in 10 points.

On Friday, December 12, at East Jackson, a questionable situation with the game's conduct was a big part of the 54-65 decision against the Tigers.

"We were a way better team and we'll get them when they come here," Head Coach Don Keiser said following the game. That rematch is scheduled for Saturday, January 24.

Against East Jackson, Stewart led Tiger scorers with 21 points. He also had an impressive nine assists. Coleman was the only other Tiger to hit double figures and he double-doubled with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring were Bradley with eight, Keiser with six, and Jones and Tyrece Ashmore had two each.

At Greene County on Saturday it was not the Tigers night. "Everybody has a off night in a season and that was ours," Keiser said of the 52-72 loss.

"We got killed," he explained. "We got down early and had to go man and they were just going around us." The Tigers managed to pull within 10 points once during the fourth quarter but that was a close as they got.

Still, three W-W players hit double figures. Stewart again led the team with 18 points; Coleman had 14; and Bradley had 11.

Next, Washington-Wilkes will play in the Lincoln County Christmas Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Friday games begin with the W-W girls playing at 4 p.m. and the boys playing at 5:30 p.m. Saturday start times will depend on the outcome of the Friday games.

Then, on December 27, 29, and 30, the Tigers will play in the Evans Christmas Tournament with the first game beginning at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 27.

The Tigers won't return home until they host Butler on Saturday, January 3.
