W-W Garden Club meets December 11 at Waters home

The Washington-Wilkes Garden Club met in the home of Mark and Emilie Waters on East Robert Toombs Avenue on Thursday afternoon, December 11.

Holiday decorations abounded from the lighted trees and wreaths on the front porch to the beautiful trees and accents throughout the house.

The dining table was beautifully decorated with an embroidered Christmas organza cloth and a central holiday setting that included candles in crystal holders.

Members gathered in the living room and Mary Webster, president, presided. Paula Butts continued the opening ritual with a devotional from Luke 2 and prayer.

Faye Durham of Tennessee, a former member, and guest, Mary Broadnax, received a special welcome.

During the short business meeting, reports were given by Mabel Johnson, secretary, and Celeste Adams, treasurer.

Members brought gifts for the Fig Leaf project of the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville and also money was given along with the red Christmas stockings for the Garden Therapy project of the hospital.

Members delighted in a wonderful program of holiday songs and Christmas carols presented by Mrs. Waters, soloist, and Patricia Burton, accompanist. Everyone joined in singing many familiar songs and carols at the close of the program.
