I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that you will have a happy new year. The one and only thing I hope for in 2008 is restored health. I pray for that and I wish that for my family and friends. Thank you lord for my many blessings and we thank you for the showers. The rain Sunday was much needed and I among many am grateful. .Our family gathered on Sunday, December 23, for our family gettogether at the home of my parents in Lincolnton. All were excited and so good to go "home." The family and friends who were present were G.B. and me, Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Wallace, Mrs. Charles Wallace, Chaz and Marie of Dahlonega, Lee Wallace and friend, Dr. Ainsley of Asheville, N.C., Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Goff, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Romines, Mark and Brook of McCormick, S.C., Shannon Thomason, Taylor McAvoy, Shannon Thomason, Taylor McAvoy and Wes Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gaines and Tanner Barnett of Winterville. .G.B. and I, along with Burt Newsome, Shannon, Taylor, Wes Butler, and Mrs. Carolyn Barnett of Nicholson enjoyed a Christmas meal at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gaines, Tanner and Trace in Winterville on Christmas Eve. We all exchanged gifts and had a nice time. .Rick Newsome and daughter Jenna of Springfield, Va., spent last week with his mother, Mrs. Jenelle C. Newsome. Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome visit often. We are sorry to hear that Aunt Jenelle had two falls recently. We hope she feels better soon. .Mrs. Catiel Felts and Ariel of Gainesville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tuttle. .Shannon Thomason, Taylor McAvoy, and Sherry Newsome spent December 26 in Athens. .We were sorry to hear about the death of Steve Garrett in Florida recently. Sympathy is expressed to his family. The late Edith Newsome Garrett was his mother. They lived on Cedar Street in Washington many years. I attended his memorial service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. .Those enjoying Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Hill O'Neal at Tyrone were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tuttle, Mr. and Mrs. Henry O'Pry of Athens, Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Newsome and boys, Mary Donna Lunceford, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lunceford, Holly Lunceford and Brett. .Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tuttle spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Newsome, Brandon and Jacob. .Rebecca Phillips of Conyers spent her Christmas holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips. Friday, December 21, Gregg Phillips of North Augusta joined Becky, Stephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla for dinner at the Phillips home in Aonia. .Mr. and Mrs. Steve Carre and Evan of Greensboro, N.C., joined the Philliips family for Christmas, arriving on Friday and returning to Greensboro on Christmas Day. Becky Phillips, Stephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla joined the family for dinner. .Last Friday, Richard and Brenda Phillips and Becky enjoyed dinner at the Little Dutch House in Wrens. Becky Phillips returned home to Conyers on Saturday, December 29. .Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shank of Lexington, S.C., spent from Sunday, December 23, until December 25, with his mother, Mrs. Hal Shank. .Peyton Standard of Lexington, S.C., spent the Christmas holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Standard. .Happy belated birthday to Mrs. Lucille T. Ingram. Her family had a nice party for her recently. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Davenport and Tyler of Hayesville, N.C. They also enjoyed an early Christmas for the Davenports. .Enjoying Christmas Eve dinner at the home of Lona Ingram Chesnut and Roy were Mr. and Mrs. David Ingram and Erin of Flowery Branch, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Harper and son of Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Glenn, Jennifer Harper, Laura Harper, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ingram, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ryll, Connor and Calley, Mrs. Lucille Ingram, Mrs. Elizabeth Dunnaway and Trudy Ingram. . Roy Chesnut is spending New Year's with his father, Roy Chesnut in Forsyth. .Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Brown recently. Alex visited Mrs. Flora Ann McGill and Bobbi and Wayne Thornton during Christmas. .I spent the day with Mrs. Carol Dragon in Columbia County last week. We had a delightful lunch and exchanged Christmas presents. .I visited my parents several times last week. On Thursday, mother and I made a trip to Augusta. .Our prayer concerns include Jenelle Newsome, Henry and Blanche Wallace, Lucy McCorkle, Lois South, Annie Kate Strother, Helen Ross, Marie Bradley, Barbara Adams, Betty Moore, Nancy Moon, Gary Rogers, Jim Wood, Grace Dunaway, Ethel Harris, Christopher Charping, Joe Charping, J.D. Crawford, Gertrude Tyler, Frances Shank, Joanne Flood, Willie Ruth Freeman, Sanders Dallis, Sara Nell Myers, Sara Huff, Ann Saggus, Ruth Bell, James Smith, Barry Bailey, Joann Webb, Lillie Pink Cullars, Mary Ruff, Mary Alice Rogers (missionary to Spain), Martha Drinkard, and Ed Leary. .Sincere love and sympathy to all who recently lost loved ones. .Happy birthday to all who are celebrating birthdays this week. Those I am aware of are Joann Webb, Tommy Dunnaway, and Jean Newsome Casey, Sunday, December 30, so happy birthday to these. .Christmas Day dinner guests of Sarah Huff were Russell Goldman of Doraville, Randy Goldman, Connie, Misty, and Jonathan Johnson of Lincoln County, Linda Standard, Cassie Goldman, Mitch and Bryson Taylor. On Saturday, December 22, Cassie Goldman, Mitch and Bryson Taylor had Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Johnson in Athens. Christmas Eve was spent with Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Fields in Oglethorpe County. Cassie, Mitch and Bryson spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gibson in Union Point. .Our puppies are old enough to give away. Please call if you would like one - 706-678-2898. Their mother is a purebred Chow, father, maybe, Henry, our dog. .Ebenezer Baptist Church had a nice day Sunday. Our attendance was down some, but numbers don't matter when you are in God's house. The children's story by Dr. Dupree was titled "Three Trees." Our adult sermon was "When the Angels Go Away," taken from Psalm 46 and Luke 2. I would like to thank our church leaders for a job well done last year. .Happy new year to all!
