Drug arrests lead December round up of Wilkes Co. law enforcement activity Wilkes County authorities made several pre-Christmas drug arrests, leading the December roundup of law enforcement activity. Washington Police Sgt. Harry Noble arrested James Welch, 19, of Colbert, Georgia, during a late-night traffic stop December 22. Stopped for speeding at 81 m.p.h. in a 45 zone on the North Bypass, Welch was arrested and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution, etc., of a controlled substance; and with speeding. He was released December 26 on $25,500 bond. Also arrested that night were Chris Leonard, 18, of Colbert, and Lynda Burdett, 17, of Colbert. Both were charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution, etc., of a controlled substance and were held on $25,000 bond each. Michael Lyons, 37, of Warrenton, and Rebecca Louise Hancock, 28, of Dearing, Georgia were arrested December 21 by Wilkes County Deputy Jamie Bridges and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution, etc., of a controlled substance. Lyons and Hancock were released on $25,000 bond each. Ronnie Miller, 39, of Washington, was arrested December 2 by Washington Police and charged with felony sale, distribution, possession, etc. of dangerous drugs; and with obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers. He was held on $10,000 bond. Shaka Brantley, 28, of Washington, was arrested December 7 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution, etc., of a controlled substance; obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers; and a state probation violation. He was held on $53,000 bond. Sergio D. Ware, 23, of Washington, was arrested December 7 by Washington Police and charged with possession, manufacture, or distribution, etc., of a controlled substance. He was held on $50,000 bond. Kelvin Wright, 22, of Washington, was arrested December 22 by Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with possession, manufacture, distribution, etc., of a controlled substance. He was released on $10,000 bond. In other local arrests for the month of December, Calvin T. Wynn, 19, of Washington, was arrested December 27 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with battery. He was released on $3,500 bond. Task Williams, 44, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 27 by Washington Police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on $566 bond. Tyreica Louise Davis, 27, of Washington, was arrested December 27 by Washington Police and charged with disorderly conduct. She was released on $566 bond. Laquita Denise Harris, 18, of Washington, was arrested December 25 by Washington Police and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license; operation of a motor vehicle without a current plate; and with a traffic violation. She was released on $2,000 bond. Kelvin Lee Guin, 39, of Lincoln County was arrested December 24 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with felony entering an auto with intent of felony. No bond was noted. Glenn T. Gerlach, 39, of Thomson, was arrested December 21 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license. He was released on $1,365 bond. Gabrielle Denise Jones, 30, of Wilkes County was arrested December 26 by Washington Police and charged with aggravated assault. She was released on $10,000 bond. Benjamin D. Shoemaker, 25, of Tignall, was arrested December 21 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with battery. He was released on $3,500 bond. Brenda Lynn Smith, 51, of Washington, was arrested December 23 by Washington Police and charged with driving on a suspended registration, and with driving with no proof of insurance. She was released on $2,350 bond. James Dylan Kirk, 22, of Washington, was arrested December 20 by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol; violation of the open container law; and two traffic violations. He was released on $2,800 bond. Jack Edward Kirk, 31, of Rayle, was arrested December 20 by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol; and with a taillight violation. He was released on $1,850 bond. Melvin Smith, 50, of Washington, was arrested December 20 by Washington Police and charged with simple battery. He was released on $3,500 bond. Charlie Mitchell, 71, of Woodville, Georgia, was arrested December 17 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with deposit account fraud. He was released on a nocontest cash bond. J.W. Carter Jr., 48, of Washington, was arrested December 11 by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol; possession of marijuana; driving with an open container of alcohol; driving on a revoked license; fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer,and two traffic violations. He was held on $6,464 bond. Philip Lee Morgan, 39, of Washington, was arrested by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence and with a traffic violation. He was released on $862 bond. Curtis Lee Anderson, 43, of Wilkes County was arrested December 7 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license. He was released on $1,500 bond. Wiley Wooten, 63, of West Union, S.C., was arrested December 7 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with driving under the influenceof alcohol. He was released on $814 cash bond. Michael L. McCorvey, 53, of Greensboro, was arrested December 5 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with felony deposit account fraud. He was released on $715 bond. Donna Mae Buckner, 48, of Washington, was arrested December 4 by Wilkes County deputies on a Superior Court bench warrant. Jefferson Demond Banks, 24, of Washington, was arrested December 6 by Washington Police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on $600 bond. Marquitta Hall, 24, of Washington, was arrested December 6 by Washington Police and charged with disorderly conduct. She was released on $600 bond. Vinson Thomas, 45, of Crawfordville, was arrested December 7 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with deposit account fraud. He was released on $235 bond. Arcadio Mejia Garcia, 40, of Greensboro, was arrested by Wilkes County deputies and charged with speeding and violation of a driver's license law. He was released on $422 cash bond. Gary Cade, 43, of Tignall, was arrested December 3 by Tignall Police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was held on $289 bond. Rozalyn N. Pettus, 24, of Washington, was arrested December 3 by Washington Police and charged with trespass. She was released on $216 bond. Shantika Michele Lowe, 27, of Washington, was arrested November 29 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with two counts of deposit account fraud. She was released on $460 bond. Sheila Lynn George, 43, of Elberton, was arrested November 29 by a Georgia State Patrol trooper and charged with driving under the influence; driving on a revoked or suspended license; and with a traffic violation. She was held on $1,536 bond. Lance E. Sigman Jr., 27, of Union Point, was arrested November 28 by Wilkes County deputies and charged with four counts of forgery in the first degree; possession of tools for the commission of a crime; possession of drug-related objects; and possession, manufacture, distribution, etc. of a controlled substance. He was held on a probation violation.
Cynthia McCarty, 41, of Washington, was arrested November 27 by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence; driving on a revoked or suspended license; and with an equipment charge. She was released on $5,000 bond.
