Thanks for understanding, we needed it

In the community newspaper business, we have to get the paper out every week, on time. Not only is that a traditional requirement, it is a legal one as well. So, in a little family-owned operation like ours, we have to be creative in finding ways to take a few days off. That's why we were closed all last week. We busted our [ahem] to assemble and print two papers the week before Christmas in order to make it happen.

We know it was an inconvenience for some of our readers and other customers and we sincerely apologize for any hardship caused by our closing. For your understanding, we are most grateful.

Those weekly deadlines are relentlessly brutal and this is the only way, with such a small staff, that we have figured out to get some vacation time.

So thanks for putting up with us - we needed it.
