Volunteer tells about volunteering
Pat Niemann (right), recipient of the "Care Giver of the Year" award given by the CSRA Agency on Aging, was the guest speaker for the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, January 8. She presented a program on "Volunteering at Wills Memorial Hospital" telling members that Wills Memorial currently has 55 volunteers of which 11 work in the hospital itself and the remainder work on projects such as blood drives and the celebrity waiters dinner. Niemann indicated that volunteers perform a number of vital tasks at the hospital such as making goodie bags for children that visit the emergency room, moving the magazine cart, reading, visiting and delivering mail to patients, sending out patient satisfaction surveys, and other things. Niemann also oversees the hospital's "Wellness Programs," arranging for and scheduling, monthly speakers on a number of health related topics of interest to the community. Dave Toburen (left)was the program host for the day.
