Home-buying seminar set Jan. 26 to help people understand process Want to buy a home but don't know where to start? The City of Washington is sponsoring a program to help take the confusion and uncertainty out of the home-buying process and provide a step-by-step guide to home ownership. The free educational workshop is set for Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Pope Center on Lexington Avenue. The program is designed to help people understand the process involved in becoming homeowners. Topics will include cleaning up credit, learning about money management, setting financial goals, avoiding consumer scams, understanding the mortgage loan process, and learning how to qualify for down-payment assistance. The program to educate residents on the path to homeownership is part of the Southwest Washington Redevelopment Plan, which has as one of its aims to increase the ownership of private homes in the Whitehall area. Refreshments will be served, and there will be give-aways.
