Sunday morning we had a wonderful service at Sardis Baptist Church. Sunday School was at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The singing of the inspirational hymns was led by Joyce Fry with Pam Hall as pianist. The children happily went down to the altar for their message by Rev. Jim Newsome. Afterwards they went downstairs for children's church with Cody Armour and Casey Davis. The sermon for us was "Gone Fishing" by Pastor Newsome. Sunday night Service was at 7 p.m. Prayer meeting is every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., at the Echols Home. .A Christmas dinner at the home of Mrs. Marian Poss was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Willie Frank Blackburn, Mr. and Mrs. Brant Vickery, Katie and Brantley, Mr. and Mrs. Shaun Carter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Poss and family, Amanda Poss, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Poss, Nicole Poss, and her friend, Mr. and Mrs. Josh Parker, Mrs. Bernice McAvoy, and Ronnie McAvoy. .Mrs. Marian Poss had Christmas Eve supper with Mr. and Mrs. Willie Frank Blackburn. Marian had breakfast Christmas morning with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Poss. Marian and Willie Frank and Joyce visited Mr. and Mrs. Shaun Carter and family Thursday. New Year's Day, Marian and Joyce had lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Poss. .A New Year's Eve gathering at the home of Troy and Shirley Chafin and Haley was enjoyed by family and friends. .Bonnie Boatwright and her grandchildren, Brooke Berry and Trey Berry, enjoyed an outing in Washington Friday and ate at the Down Under Cafe at the Fitzpatrick. .Spending Sunday with Buck and Linda Echols were Samantha Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, J.R. and Abby, Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank. .Bonnie Boatwright spent New Year's Eve afternoon with Ruth Flynt. She also visited Brooke Berry that day. .Rubye Armour is at home on Philomath Road recuperating nicely from knee replacement surgery with lots of attention and tender loving care from her family. .Ruby Arnold, Kim Berry and Aaliya visited Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Saturday night. .Having Sunday dinner with Clyde and Sandy Whittington were Kim Frankel, Zachery, Kyle, and Bryce of Crawford. Avery Hall spent Sunday afternoon with his little friends. .Ruby Arnold's niece, Nellie Arnold of Orlando, Fla., came to visit her and celebrate her birthday with her. Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Arnold also visited Ruby. .A fishfry was given Sunday evening in honor of Troy Chafin whose birthday was January 5. All the family joined Troy, Shirley, and Haley for this special occasion. .Jewel Barrett and Edythe McGill of Harlem visited Sudie Kennedy Wednesday. .On New Year's Day, Johnny and Kathryn Shedd enjoyed having Tim and Gail Stewart, Alyssa Stewart, Paul and Hannah Wright and Ava, Angie Paul, Chad Williams, Lyn Shedd, Rodney Shedd, MiI and Matt, for a traditional New Year's Day dinner. .A New Year's Day dinner with Tracy and Denise Armour, Justin, Ethan, and Jackson, was enjoyed by Manuel Wheatley, Talitha Hopkins, Jack and Rubye Armour, and Sudie Kennedy. Joining them later in the day were Audra Chapman and Taylor Echols. .Kenny and Vicky Mathews, Katie and Kellie, of Carlton spent the day with Johnny and Kathryn Shedd on Christmas Day, along with the ones mentioned last week. .George and Mozelle Casey visited Frances Fendley on New Year's Eve. .Rebecca Armour spent Saturday night with Frances Fendley. . Louise Smith and Lucille Edmonds of Anderson, S.C., spent from Thursday to Sunday with Billy and Doris Walker. Louise, Lucile, Doris, and Mablean Sherrer went over to Watkinsville Saturday afternoon to visit their sister, Mildred Berryman. .Margaret Connor of Washington joined Peggy Echols and enjoyed New Year's dinner with Sybil Hayes and her family in Stephens. .Karen Stitcher of Chattanooga, Tenn., spent a few days with Peggy Echols and Johnny Adams during the holidays. .Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed Sunday dinner with Kay Berry and Trey, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson. .Our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mrs. Boyce Fortson. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was very dedicated to her church and family. She will be greatly missed. Our love goes out to Lonnie, Barbara and Joyce, and their families. .A New Year's Day dinner given by Helen Smith and Gertrude Jones in the fellowship hall at the Methodist Church in Crawford was enjoyed by 12 friends. All the traditional New Year's Day foods were enjoyed along with two cakes, a chocolate and a raspberry cream. Helen and Gertrude enjoyed having Bonnie Boatwright, Carole Morgan, Dorothy Wallace, Virgil and Beverly Caldwell, Fred Wheless, Nancy Adams, Henrietta Stacks, Beth Arnold, Beth Nix and Louie Griffith as guests. Helen was also honored for her birthday which was Friday, January 4. She received nice gifts and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to her. After the dinner everyone reminisced about old times. .Visiting Mrs. Mildred Sisson Wednesday were Mrs. Annie Saxon of Abbeville, S.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Benny Saxon, Calhoun Falls, S.C.; Betty Winfrey, and Trey and Alana Kemp. Gloria Wheatley joined them for lunch.
