Thanks to volunteers who helped transform Liberty Street park

TO THE EDITOR:

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard in restoring the park on Liberty Street and turning it back into an inviting space for everyone in town.

It's nice to see that even a letter from 600 miles away can result in this type of community participation by city, civic, and private sources, all working together for the common good.

Special thanks to Richard and Dana Kibby for their generosity; Pete Gartrell with the Parks and Recreation Department; Mark Waters, Bill Steed, Chris Hughes, Bob Simmons, Bill Boyd, Bill Lee, Freddie Rhodes Jr., Mike Eskew, Thomas Dozier and his staff, Bobby Mills, Ray Hardy, and the Washington- Wilkes FBLA Club.

As a finishing touch, look for the park to be transformed into more of a green space with new trees to be planted soon.
MIKE BARRY
