W-WMS Beta Club collecting canned food; band, chorus planning Christmas concert
By W-WMS SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS

On January 10, the W-WMS mathematics and science teachers participated in a workshop presented by the Math/Science Partnership. During this workshop Dr. Elliot Gootman, a University of Georgia professor, and members from the ETTC taught several of our seventh grade students. The students were actively engaged in the learning of cross-sections using three dimensional figures. The students enjoyed the hands-on activities and watching their teachers participate in the same activities they were doing. The demonstration allowed the teachers to observe a variety of methods for teaching the concept of cross-sections and how to incorporate technology into their classroom lessons.

Currently, Ms. Rhodes is working with students who want to participate in "Agriculture Day in Georgia," an annual art/essay contest in recognition of the vital role agriculture plays in our economy and to honor the contributions made by dedicated farmers. The first-, second-, and third-place winners in all categories will be awarded $200, $100, and $50 cash prizes, respectively; honorable mentions will also be named. State Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin will invite all winners and their guests to Atlanta for a special awards presentation with special guest, Governor Sonny Perdue.
