Public invited to 195th birthday party for Confederate VP A.H. Stephens

The public is invited to join in celebrating the 195th birthday of the Vice President of the Confederacy at Crawfordville on Saturday, February 2, at 11 a.m.

The celebration will be held at the group shelter near the ranger's officeinside the Alexander H. Stephens Park. Follow the flags and signs to the shelter. A barbecue lunch will be served at 11 a.m. The lunch will be $7 for adults and $5 for children.

The guest speaker will be Marshall P. Waters III, PhD, of Washington. His program will be "The Dahlgren Raid on Richmond: Union Plot to Assassinate Jefferson Davis"

Immediately following the lunch and speaker, there will be a Memorial Service at the Alexander Stephens gravesite by the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard. Guests are invited to visit Liberty Hall after the services.
