Master Equine Management training offered by McDuffie extension office

The Master Equine Management Training Program is designed as an advanced training curriculum to inform horse owners about the many topics critical to starting and managing a horse related business. The course is targeted toward horse owners, trainers, instructors, boarding stable managers, and breeding farms. This is the first training program of this kind offered in Georgia.

In addition to the basic course curriculum, participants will also receive information about available federal and state cost-share programs to assist their horse program. Instruction topics will include:
l economics of the industry
l feeding
l nutrition
l waste handling
l horse health barn design and
management
l soil, water, and pasture management


l environmental concerns
l arena maintenance, legal and
liability issues
l developing budgets

Classes will begin at 7 p.m. each Monday evening beginning January 28 and run for a six-week period ending March 3. Half of the classes will be held in Warrenton and half in Thomson with the meeting locations announced at the time of registration.

Class size will be limited to the first 50 applicants. Tuition for the course is $100.00 per person and will cover expenses including all study materials, proceedings of the meeting, refreshments, notebook, forage textbook, a cap embroidered with Master Equine Training logo and a Master Equine Management Training Graduation Certificate.
