All we see in the paper or hear on television now are the political views of the media. We will be hearing that all year, so I hope we will findout all we can about each candidate before we go to vote. One election year when I was teaching, we were having a mock election and learning all about the political parties when one little boy asked, "When is this execution going to take place?" That's just like so many men getting the words
wedding and
funeral mixed up.! .Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Bobo attended the ordination service Sunday of their son, Mike Bobo, at the First Baptist Church of Mc- Donough. I understand it was a very nice service. . Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gammon were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Culpepper of Harlem for a trip to Birmingham, Ala., Friday and Saturday. They went especially to see the exhibit on Pompeii at the Birmingham Museum of Art. Both couples enjoyed their tour of Pompeii while they were in Italy, so this was a nice addition to that trip. This exhibit will travel to Houston, Texas, after January 27. .For Men's Day at Tignall Baptist Church the men of the church will be cooking breakfast for everyone who signs up, so don't forget to get your name in if you want to enjoy breakfast on the morning of January 27 at 8:30 a.m. Then of course the men will take care of all parts of the service. Rev. Andrew Perryman will be bringing the morning message. .The North Wilkes Steering Committee will be meeting Thursday night, January 17, at the Tignall Lunchroom. Anyone who would like to join us, please just attend the meeting at 6:30. We will be planning our winter activity for the community. .Myrline Thornton enjoyed having Alicia Thornton of Athens spend last week with her. .There will be a deacon ordination service at 3 p.m. on January 27 at Beulah Baptist Church for Ed Rhodes and Wade Johnson. .Spending Tuesday of last week until Sunday in their Beulah home were R.C. and Barbara Oakley. Betty Reese spent the week with them. All the Rhodes family in the community got together several times during the week. .Linda Aycock joined Otis and Pat Callaway in Carnesville for a hog show where their grandson, Greg Callaway, was participating. He won first place in his division. .Mallorysville Baptist ladies group, Friends of Faith, are continuing their Bible study called "Facing Our Giant." . On Sunday, John and Nonie Yochim visited Nonie's sister and her husband, Kathy and Dale Robertson, at their new home in Winder. .Linda Norman, wife of Ben Norman, had heart surgery last week in Atlanta. She is home now, but still on oxygen. Let's keep her and Will Lawson in our prayers. Will is in Doctors Hospital in Augusta. He is the son of Tim and Sheila Lawson. .We extend sincere sympathy to Geraldine Steed and her family. Geraldine's daughter-in-law, Bessie Louise Coleman, passed away last week. Her service was Saturday in Decatur where she lived with her husband, Larry Coleman, Geraldine's son. She was only 48 years old. She is survived by her husband Larry, children and grandchildren who will all miss her. .Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily of William Echols. Our prayers are with his wife Jean; son William Echols Jr.; his daughter Pam; and brother James Echols.
