Vernon Wilson Hopkins A memorial services for Vernon Wilson Hopkins, 87, of Victory Lane, Washington, will be held Friday, January 18, 2008, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Albert W. Huyck Jr. officiating. He died Saturday, January 12, in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington. Mr. Hopkins was a native of Wilkes County and lived here for 63 years. He was the son of the late Albert and Lucy Scott Hopkins and was the widower of Virginia Lee Jamison Hopkins. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, having served from 1941 to 1948. While living in Olathe, Kansas, Mr. Hopkins worked with the Olathe Sheriff's Department and with the Kansas State Police. After coming back to Georgia, he managed the food service program at Belle Meade Country Club while living in Thomson. He also managed the Washington-Wilkes Country Club for a few years. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Lynn Hopkins and Nancy Carlisle Napier Hopkins, of Cayce, S.C.; a brother, Hudson Hopkins of Thomson; and a sister, Lucy Nell Hopkins Gill of Lavonia.
Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
