Anna Elizabeth Campbell marries Alton Alexander Dawkins Dec. 15 Anna Elizabeth Campbell and Alton Alexander Dawkins of Lincolnton exchanged vows in a Christmas double-ring ceremony Saturday, December 15, at fiveo'clock in the evening at First Assembly of God in Lincolnton. Rev. Lanis Lewis and Rev. Terry Bonds Lincolnton officiated. The bride is the daughter of Philip Campbell and the late Betty Campbell of Lincolnton. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Dawkins of Lincolnton. Front doors held D-shaped white silk rosebud wreaths hung with gold ribbon. Kendall Huff of Lincolnton tended the register, an engagement picture of the couple framed with a mat for guests to sign. The picture was topped with an arrangement of gold berries and pine sprigs centered by a gold bow. Programs were given by Cody Creswell and Hunter Creswell of Lincolnton, nephews of the bridegroom Vows were exchanged before an altar decorated with two large black tree candelabra holding 36 white candles each. These flanked a three-candle arrangement of pine sprigs, red carnations, gold berries and miniature gold Christmas ornaments. The sanctuary was beautifully decorated with large Christmas wreaths flanking the baptismal pool and a red and gold Christmas tree to the right of the altar. Bright red poinsettias covered the altar and surrounded the baptismal pool. Tea light candles and red tier candles surrounded by pine sprigs adorned the stained glass window. Votive candle stands accented the center aisle pews. Each votive candle globe was monogrammed with the letter "D" and was surrounded by red silk ribbon, pine sprigs and gold berries, finished with a center gold ribbon. To the left of the altar was a table in memory of Shannon Dawkins Jennings, sister of the bridegroom, and Betty Campbell, mother of the bride. This table held weddings photos of Mrs. Jennings and Mrs. Campbell as well as an arrangement of pine sprigs, white carnations and gold berries holding white pillar candles bearing the name of each individual. Mrs. Jennings' candle was lighted by her sister, Mrs. Deedee Creswell of Lincolnton, during the prelude. Mrs. Campbell's was lighted by her family during the ceremony immediately preceding the giving away of the bride. Wedding music was presented by Beth Chitwood of Athens, pianist, and Bryce Todd of Williamston, N.C., saxophonist. Vocalists included Tracy Hester of Lincolnton, N.C., Jason Bonds of Lincolnton, Melissa Morrison of Stanley, N.C., Mary Jones of Royston, Malorie Freeman of Nicholson and Rachel Ward of Raleigh, N.C. The wedding party entered to "Surely the Presence" and scripture reading, 1 Corinthians 13, by Miss Morrison. The bride entered to "At Last" sung by Miss Hester and played by Mr. Todd and Miss Chitwood. Mr. Bonds sang "I Will Be Here" as the ceremony began and an ensemble of vocalists sang "Shine On Us," accompanied by Mr. Todd at the piano, after partaking in Holy Communion by the couple. A gold sash and bow accented the back of the dress. She carried a gold tussie mussie of miniature Calla lilies, stephanotis and hypericum berries. The bride's paternal grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Campbell of Great Falls, S.C., selected a red floorlength two-piece ensemble and jacket. The bridegroom's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dimple Banks of Lincolnton, wore a black floor-length two-piece ensemble with accompanying crystal beaded jacket. Both wore corsages of Star of Bethlehem flowers and fern leaves wrapped with ivory and gold ribbon. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hill Wells of Lincolnton served as honorary grandparents for the bride and Mrs. Wells' corsage matched those of the grandmothers. Mrs. Joyce Hester of Lincolnton, N.C., directed the wedding. Reception Following the ceremony a reception was held at Savannah Lakes Resort in McCormick, S.C. The bridal portrait was displayed at the entrance of the reception hall adorned by a spray of pine sprigs and gold berries centered with gold ribbon. White cloths with red runners covered guest tables centered with gold square mirrors each centered by a candle globe bearing the initial "D" on the outside. Gold ribbon and Christmas-colored berries surrounded the globes. Interspersed among the runners and centerpieces were votive candles and miniature gold pine cones. Also covered in white, the head table was centered by a three-candle arrangement as well as by a centerpiece similar to those on the guest tables except the candle globe of the bride's table bore the names of the couple and date of the ceremony in addition to the monogram. The bride's table was decorated with greenery, Star of Bethlehem and carnations interspersed by Christmas-colored berries. It held the three-tiered cake topped with a gold bow. The lower hexagonal tier supported two more hexagonal tiers of graduated sizes. Placed on a silver plateau, the cake, baked by Mrs. Sara Evans of Thomson, was served by Lauren Chafin of Washington. The bridegroom's cake was decorated by greenery, Star of Bethlehem and carnations interspersed with Christmas-colored berries. One each of the caramel cake, hummingbird cake and red velvet cake were prepared by Mrs. Dovie Reed of Lincolnton especially for the bridegroom.
