Woman's Club members hear info on Relay for Life

Members of the Woman's Club heard a program on the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at the luncheon meeting Monday, January 14, at the clubhouse.

Ashley Barnett introduced the program speaker, Danielle Caldwell of Augusta. She talked about the upcoming event and showed a video of last year's Survivor Walk. Cathy Lannae also had a part on the program and was recognized as a nineyear survivor. They announced that Jerry Compton is this year's contact for the event. Prior to the program Vivian Walker presided and welcomed members and guests.

Paula Butts led the devotional, the Pledge to the Flag and the blessing for the luncheon.

Dean Mansfieldintroduced and thanked hostesses Emilie Waters, Mabel Johnson and Cathy Lannae who decorated with snowmen and winter scenes. Mrs. Lannae added Relay for Life touches to each table.

Announcements included the upcoming John Duggan Memorial Scholarship Dinner which will be Monday evening, February 11, at 7 p.m. at the Woman's Club. Tickets for the dinner are $15 and may be obtained from any member. Seating is limited. Proceeds from the event are used for the scholarship program.

It was also announced that a chili or soup and cornbread supper will be served at the "Come and See" event at the clubhouse on Friday evening, January 25, at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and see the new renovations at the Woman's Club.

Thirty-seven members and one guest, Miss Caldwell, attended the luncheon meeting.
