Harwell to visit for event in his honor
Legendary Atlanta Crackers and Detroit Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell (left above, shown with broadcasting associate Russ Hodges) will be honored in his hometown of Washington in conjunction with his 2008 induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. A baseball-themed reception including celebrity speakers, a book signing, and auction of baseball memorabilia will be held at The Pope Center on Friday, February 15, in Harwell's honor. Proceed from the event will be used to establish a scholarship in Harwell's name for a broadcast journalism major. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
