Crowds braved cold rain to attend Saturday morning's United Community Awareness Program (UCAP) 5th annual Unity Prayer Breakfast with Mayor Willie Burns as guest speaker.
On Sunday afternoon Pastor L.V. Turman and Faith Christian led the Martin Luther King memorial service at Springfield Baptist Church.
Crowds braved a cold wind Monday afternoon to take part
in the annual MLK Day parade. Grand Marshals Rev. Kenneth Walker and Clara
Sutton led the parade, followed by Mayor Burns and Mrs. Burns and scores of cars
and community floats, from W-WMS, up Whitehall Street, and up Lexington Avenue
to The Pope Center.
