Washington police catch suspect after chase
 | | Washington Police Lt. Joe Nelson photographs the white Lincoln that Jeffrey Leon Carter of Washington crashed after a chase early Sunday morning. Corporal Philliph Perkins was on patrol about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he suspected Carter of driving under the influence. When Perkins tried to stop Carter, he fled, leading officerson a chase down Lincoln Circle and up Lexington Avenue, where he lost control and crashed through a fence and into a yard. Perkins said a tree stump in the yard prevented the car from crashing into the home. Carter is facing six charges, including with DUI, driving with an open container, fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer,reckless driving, and and two traffic charges. The case has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol. |
