A.H. Stephens Park to celebrate birthday of Confederate VP

Alexander H. Stephens Park and Historic Site, Crawfordville, will celebrate the 195th birthday of Alexander H. Stephens, vice-president of the Confederacy, on Saturday, February 2.

Dr. Marshall P. Waters III of Washington-Wilkes, will be the guest speaker for the program. His program will be on "The Dahlgren Raid on Richmond: Union Plot to Assassinate Jefferson Davis."

The day will begin at 11 a.m. at the group shelter near the ranger's officeinside the Park. A barbecue lunch will be served at 11 a.m. at a cost of

7 for adults and $5 for children.

Immediately following the lunch and speaker, there will be a memorial service at the Alexander H. Stephens gravesite. The service will be conducted by the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard.
