GA Math League High School Contest Math students at WWCHS annually participate in the GA Math League High School contest. The contest allows WWCHS students to compete with students from other schools across Georgia. We compete with other schools by submitting our top 5 scores on each of 6 contests given throughout the year on dates specified by the state organization. Students also compete with each other. Participants with the top score for each grade and the overall WWCHS school winner are recognized on Honor's Day in May. The GA Math League contests challenge students and require them to apply concepts they have learned in different ways. The High School version of the GA math League Competition is in 6 parts consisting of six tests with six questions each. Students are given 30 minutes to work. Problems are atypical and thought provoking. Students are encouraged to use multiple strategies to solve the problems.
We believe students gain a lot from the experience. This enrichment activity is open to all students. Registration is held in September each year and is strictly voluntary. 55 students volunteered to participate in the event for the 2007-2008 school year.
