Leigh Oxendine honored at stork shower January 12

Leigh Eason Oxendine of Augusta was guest of honor at a baby shower on Saturday afternoon, January 12, at the home of Susan Branan on Poplar Drive.

Hostesses with Mrs. Branan for the festive occasion were her daughter, Ashley Sheffield,and Elizabeth Newsome, both of Athens; Jillian Andrews, India Harris, Mary Newsome, Pat Thornton, Kelli Tillman, Nancy Barnett, Alicia Deweese, Ann Tiller, and Vonice Wells.

In honor of the occasion Mrs. Oxendine was presented a corsage of Alstroemeria lilies accented with a pacifier and blue baby socks. Corsages of teddy bears accented with Alstroemeria lilies were presented to the expectant grandmothers, Teresa Eason of Washington and Anne Massengale of Monticello.

A sports theme was used in decorating. The table was centered with a teddy bear holding colorful balloons and surrounded with sports-theme balls.

From silver appointments guess enjoyed oatmeal raisin cookies, cake squares, pecans, ribbon sandwiches, party cucumber and curry chicken salad sandwiches, fresh strawberries and grapes. The silver punch bowl, banked with ivy, held lime punch accented with an ice ring dotted with fresh lemons and miniature baby bottles and rattles.

The hostesses presented Mrs. Oxendine a generous gift certificateto Babies R Us.

Thirty-fiveguests were invited. Special guests attending in addition to the prospective grandmothers were prospective great-grandmothers, Mary Lee Edenfieldof Baxley and Mildred Messengale of Fayetteville; also, Lynette Lightsey, Dana Edenfieldand Alonna Edenfieldof Surrency; Melissa Nail and Hannah Nail of Hazlehurst; Beth Holton of Fayetteville; and Lindsey Allen of Athens.
