Pianist entertains, educates at W-WPS
On Thursday, February 7, the children of Washington-Wilkes Primary School were treated to a concert of piano music performed by Chu-Fang Huang. Huang is a member of the Young Concert Artists International group and was brought to Washington from the outreach program at the University of Georgia. The music she played included classical works from Haydn, Chopin, and Chinese composers. The children were mesmerized by the speed and accuracy of her fingers and were delighted as she explained her music to them. They were interested to learn that she had begun piano at the age of seven and went to the Shenyang Music Conservatory at the age of 12. She spoke fluent English and engaged her young audience with each piece. She is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at Julliard.
