Phillips Mill Baptist Church was happy to have Gideon speaker Milton Broome at the Sunday morning worship service to share an update on the Gideon ministries. He presented a Bible to Rev. Robert Rayner. Milton is a member of Tabor Baptist Church near Tignall and father of Phillips Mill's music director, Bes Moore. Thanks to all who took part in the special offering for the Gideons. Sunday night it was an honor to have our associational missionary, Andy Perryman, and his wife to visit. The beautiful flowers were placed by Dean and Linda McDonald. . Phillips Mill Baptist Church WMU and deacons will both meet on Tuesday night, February 26. Those who would like to join the ladies for a favorite "soup and sandwich" supper will meet at 6:30 p.m. Linda McDonald is WMU director and invites all interested ladies to take part. .Congratulations and best wishes to Amanda Renee McAvoy and Christopher Paul Sanders who were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, February 2, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church, with their pastor, Rev. Robert Rayner, performing the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Benji and Sherri McAvoy; granddaughter of Thomas and Mary Jane McAvoy; and great-granddaughter of Mrs. Gussie McAvoy, all of Phillips Mill. The groom is the son of Darryl and Luann Sanders; and grandson of Mrs. Betty Sanders, all of Lincolnton. They will be making their home in Lincolnton. May God continue to bless this nice couple for years to come as they travel down the road of life together. .Belated happy birthday wishes to Mr. Sam Lovvorn who celebrated his 91st birthday Thursday, February 7; and to his wife Belle who celebrated her 78th birthday back in September. I am very sorry about the oversight of both. .Those that I know of having birthdays this week are Mildred Nunn McAvoy and Marion Combs Poss, both on Tuesday, February 19. Mrs. McAvoy will be 88. Mike Lunceford has one on Wednesday, February 20. I would like to wish all three of them a happy birthday and best wishes.
.Visiting Dan and Mildred McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy during the week were Billy McAvoy, Dorothy Ann and Jimmy Saxon. .Best wishes to Rev. and Mrs. Skip Padgett who will be married 44 years on Thursday, February 28. He celebrated a birthday on Friday, February 15.
