USS Georgia flagvisits here

Viet Nam war veteran David Tyler (above) was one of the first to sign the logbook for the USS Georgia Flag Project following ceremonies held at the Wilkes County courthouse on Thursday, February 7. The ceremony included remarks and a history of the USS Georgia as well as a chronicling of the flag's journey through all 159 counties of the state of Georgia. The USS Georgia has been refittedand will be stationed at St. Mary's. On hand for the ceremony and logbook signing were (at right, l-r) Donna Hardy, Tyler, Les Holland of the Navy League, Andy Crosson the the Regional Development Center, Sam Moore, John Howard, Mike Sisson, Jerry Stover, Blake Thompson, and Navy Recruiter Tony Smith.
