Nannie Mae Thornton Long Funeral services for Nannie Mae "Lady" Thornton Long, 93, of Berkshire Drive, Washington, were held Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Jerry Long and Rev. Chris Townsend officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington. She died Friday, February 15, at her home. Mrs. Long was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late George W. Thornton and Annie Mae Turner Thornton. She was the widow of Romulus W. Long. Mrs. Long was a retired seamstress from Royal Manufacturing Co., and a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington. Survivors include a son, Wilson Long of Washington; a daughter, Barbara Long of Stone Mountain; a sister, Annie Kate (Pete) Strother of Washington; two grandchildren, Will Long and his wife Amy, and Sherrer Long, of Washington; a great-granddaughter, Destiny Long; and step-great-grandsons, Nicholas and Bobby Reville. Pallbearers included Henry Strother, David Smith, Stephen Long, Jim Baston, James Long, Billy Thornton, Dwight Long, and Raleigh Long.
Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
