Waters presents global warming program at Parish House Feb. 12 Dr. Mark Waters presented the program at the Iris Garden Club meeting Tuesday morning, February 12, at the Parish House of the Church of the Mediator. Dr. Waters' informative presentation was on global warming. The morning began as members gathered for refreshments. President Karen Stubbs called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone and thanked hostesses Eleanor Blackmon, Jane Bundy, Mary Lou Dyer, Jackie Gale and Marilyn Pasco for the delicious refreshments. Mrs. Stubbs read the Collect. Following the program a business meeting was held. During this time Mrs. Stubbs presented information on Hellebore Days at Piccadilly Farms March 7-8 and on the cloning of historical trees in New York City. Committee reports were given. Gail Boyd asked the membership to be aware of the trash on the streets and to pick up as we walk along. She also suggested that we may want to express our concerns to the mayor. Other announcements included Camellia Day on Wednesday, March 5, at Thomson Presbyterian Church and the April meeting which has been rescheduled for Post Oak Farms. For this event members are to meet in the parking lot of the Church of the Mediator no later than 10:15 a.m. Oleta McAvoy thanked everyone for contributions to the Fig Leaf project and briefly explained the project for new members. Donations may be brought to the March meeting. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 11, at the Parish House. The program, "Plants", will be presented by Marcia Paxton. Hostesses will be Gail Boyd, Mary Craven, Bernie Pope and Sharlene Zima.
