W-W FBLA members attend region leadership conference

The W-WCHS Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) represented Washington well at a recent Region IV FBLA Leadership Conference.

Six members brought home medals in various events including Jessica Spradlin, first in Introduction to Technology Concepts; Rob Lovvorn, first in Business Math; John Lovvorn, first in Future Business Leaders; Milton James, fourth in Introduction to Business Communication; Megan Churning, fourth in Introduction to Technology Concepts; and Tyson Gilland, fifth in Economics.

Each of these competitors will advance to the state level in their event at the 2008 State Leadership Conference in Athens in March.

The chapter celebrated National FBLA Week February 10-16 with various activities throughout the week. Members and students in all Business and Computer Science (BCS) classes participated in "dress-up" days including Professional Business Attire Day, FBLA T-shirt Day, FBLA OfficialColors Day, and Red/Pink Day for Valentine's Day.

In BCS classes, students and members celebrated the week by creating business proposals, participating in a handshake activity for interviews, designing inventions in the Invention Convention, learning business terms by participating in a Monopoly Tournament, completing Internet FBLA Scavenger Hunts, and participating in marketing projects.

During the February 12 club meeting, members enjoyed cupcakes and drinks as part of Member Appreciation Day, participated in an FBLA Emblem Ceremony, and enjoyed various "icebreaker" activities.
