Tiger baseball's first pitch is Friday against Lincoln; team to host Elbert Mon.
The Washington-Wilkes Tiger baseball team will begin its season this Friday, February 22, with a scrimmage game against Lincoln County at Tiger field beginning at 5 p.m.

The regular season gets underway next Monday, February 25, with a home game against Elbert County.

The 2008 roster includes 14 players as follows: seniors - Caleb Saggus, Kelley Roberts, Josh Welch, and Whit Chafin; juniors - Ty McGill, Jerrick Darracott, Hunter Jackson, Drew Wilson, Lee Thompson, Preston Hardin, Graham Wolf, and Spencer Swinson; freshmen - DJ Barnett and Zach Murray.

The Tigers return five starters including Caleb Saggus who broke the single season stolen base record last year with 37. Pitching will be a key for the Tigers who lost most of their starting pitching from last year's team.

Tigers battling for pitching positions include Drew Wilson, Kelley Roberts, Caleb Saggus, DJ Barnett, Josh Welch, Hunter Jackson, and Zach Murray.
