The Washington City Council will meet for a "work session" on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Horse lovers are invited to join the Classic South Equine Association. The group will be meeting the first Tuesday of each month. Plans are underway for the association's first annual Classic South Horse Fair to be held on Saturday, May 17, at Callaway Plantation.

The eighth annual Railroad Days Festival will be held in Camak on Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The day will feature live music, games, amusement rides, free Martin Marietta shuttle tour, an old historic railroad town, railroad exhibits and displays, arts and crafts, antique tractors, classic cars, food, model trains, raffle items, and much more.

The Beulah Fire Department, Lincoln County Volunteer Fire District, will give away smoke detectors to families who cannot purchase their own from 1-3 p.m., March 8. The detectors will be available on a first come, first served basis. Thirty detectors have been supplied by the State Fire Marshall. If there are any leftover, they will be available on Saturday, March 22, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. At that same time the firedepartment will be having a chicken barbecue available to the public.
