Medical screenings available for youth at Health Dept.

The Wilkes County Health Department will be providing Headstart, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten hearing, vision, and dental screens free of charge.

Jennifer Jackson, Wilkes County Nurse Manager, announces that the screenings will be done the week of registration for these programs which is March 3-7. Hours for these services and immunizations will be Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. until noon.

"Immunizations will be offered on a sliding fee scale," Mrs. Jackson says. "This is done based on family size and gross monthly income."

The nurse urges parents to come during registration week to get their child registered.
