W-WCHS students celebrate FCCLA week February 11-14 The Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School chapter of the FCCLA celebrated National FCCLA week February 11-14. FCCLA focuses on family, community, and career development. The theme for FCCLA week was MADE, "Making a Difference Everywhere." Schoolwide participation was encouraged. Monday, February 11, was designated for appreciation of our community leaders. FCCLA made treat bags for the Wilkes County school leaders in appreciation of their dedication to the children of Wilkes County. Tuesday, February 12, was career dress up day. FCCLA encouraged all students to dress in clothing related to their career goals after high school. Tuesday was also club day. Members enjoyed refreshments and participated in an "Egg Drop" team building activity. Members formed groups and were given straws and masking tape to build a single egg package that could sustain a fall from eight feet. Members enjoyed the competition and learned valuable skills of getting along with others as well as learning to share ideas. Wednesday, February 13, FCCLA members visited residents of Harpers Personal Care Home. FCCLA members enjoyed visiting with the residents and playing bingo. Prizes were distributed to the winners. Everyone had a good time.
Thursday, February 14, was red and white day. FCCLA encouraged all students to wear the organizations colors of red and white. Red is the color of strength, courage and determination. White is the color of sincerity of purpose and integrity of action.
