Faz presents program at Kettle Creek NSDAR meeting Feb. 18
Mrs. Faz, introduced by Phyllis Scarborough, gave a program on the formation and mission of the Kettle Creek Battleground committee. She explained the processes of researching pension records and archives, among other sources, to ascertain who was present in the Battle. At the conclusion of her program Mrs. Scarborough thanked Mrs. Faz and noted that a donation in her honor had been made to the Tamassee School. Joanne Pollock, regent, presided. She thanked the judging committee of the poster contest commemorating the 229th anniversary of the Battle of Kettle Creek and displayed the posters. Winners were Rebecca Wilson, first; Brittany Guin, second; and Europe Wylie and Jordan Echols, who tied for third. Ginny Broome read the National Defense Minute. Mrs. Pollock reported on the activities at the Revolutionary Days celebration and suggested a formation of a committee to encourage and plan the Chapter's participation in the events next year. She also related to the group that among those in attendance was Sandy Wray, associate member of the Kettle Creek Chapter, and husband, Chuck, of Menifee, Calif. Mrs. Wray placed a wreath in memory of her ancestor. Nina Albea reported she is still collecting soup labels and supplies for Tamassee and Betty Slaton reported on the Thirteenth Colony Trail.
