New FBLA chapter organized; students nominated for JNYLC

A new chapter of Future Business Leaders of America has been formed at Washington-Wilkes Middle School with 27 seventh and eighth graders as members. The club is under the guidance of Lise Kalla, business and information technology teacher. FBLA is the largest and oldest business organization in the world, with Georgia holding the title of largest state chapter. While more than 90 percent of public high schools in Georgia have an active FBLA chapter, middle school-level membership is the newest and fastest growing segment of this organization. The FBLA chapter at W-WCHS helped launch the new group and sponsored fivememberships. Members of the club will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities on the local, state, and national level. Some of these activities include job shadow programs, community service, and American enterprise projects. For Valentine's Day, students assembled candy bags to give to W-WMS teachers and staff. Members participated in the college fair at W-WCHS last week.
