Sarah Alice Sherrer

Funeral services for Sarah Alice Sherrer, 67, were held Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Springfield Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Norman Williams officiating. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery. She died Thursday, March 6, at Heartland Hospice House in Augusta.

Mrs. Sherrer was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Harris Wingfieldand the late Edward Bates. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.

Survivors include seven children, Jerome Booker, Lillian Booker, Bernice Sherrer, Sharia Sherrer, LaWonda Sherrer, Veronica Moore, and Vonta Cobb; a brother, Jeremiah Sherrer; four sisters, Nellie Norman, Claudell McClendon, Brenda Fuller, all of Washington, and Alice Johnson of Athens; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary Inc. of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
