'Managing your Handicaps' to be theme of Tea and Learn March 13

Wills Memorial Hospital will host a Tea and Learn March 13 in the hospital cafe. The subject will be "Managing Your Handicaps." Anne Myers, RN, MSN, will be the featured speaker.

Mrs. Myers has been a nurse at Wills Memorial Hospital since 1992 when she returned to Washington from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She holds a BSN and MSN from the University of Wisconsin in cancer and community health. She was an instructor in the BSN nursing program at the university as well as working as a clinical nurse specialist in two Milwaukee hospitals. Here in Georgia she has been an instructor at Augusta State University School of Nursing, teaching Associate RN students.

Myers is currently a support coordinator at Wills Memorial Hospital for diabetic patients and their families, as well as being available for free consultations with patients suffering from a variety of chronic conditions, including diabetes mellitus, chronic lung disease, heart disease, stroke, and hyperlipedemia.

Myers shares a handicap with many as a fall four years ago resulted in a left hip fracture with which she had to cope, finding the rehabilitation long and frustrating. She is persistent with working with her handicap. She brings a wealth of knowledge in learning to deal with handicaps and to triumphantly master the problem.
