Tigers beat Putman in extra innings for first region win as season heats up
Kelley Roberts pitched fiveinnings for the no-decision allowing two runs on just two hits. D.J. Barnett picked up the win in relief pitching four scoreless innings while striking out seven Putnam batters. The first W-W rally came in the seventh inning when the Tigers were trailing 2-1. Whit Chafin started off the inning with single to right field. After moving to third on a couple of wild pitches, Chafin scored to tie the game on a misplayed popup off the bat of Hunter Jackson. In the top of the ninth Jackson led off the inning with a walk and was followed by Caleb Saggus who was hit by a pitch. Graham Wolfe then scored on a ground ball error by the second baseman to put the Tigers up 3-2. Drew Wilson then hit a sac flyto center to score Saggus and give the Tigers a two-run lead.
