It ain't a crash if you can walk away

Pilot Allen Bunch (at right) talks with Wilkes Deputy Jamie Bridges Sunday evening after making an emergency landing in his ultralight aircraft on Harper Road just off Highway 78 in Rayle. "It just cut off," Bunch said, "and I started looking for a place to land." The aircraft clipped a power line on the way down, and the nose gear dug in on landing, but damage was limited to the craft's landing gear and nose. The aircraft was repairable, Bunch said, and he was fine. "This isn't the first time this has happened."
